Staff who work such performances often will wear SOME kind of hearing protection. Some earplugs protect from harmful sounds while still allowing normal conversation. SONIC VALVE was one brand. Dunno if they are still in business or not.
I completely understand. Loud and noisy places like concerts and plays really upset my eardrums. What I wouldn’t give for some noise cancelling headphones.
