It’s all relative, of course.

There was much less disunity after we pulled out of Viet Nam and before we invaded Iraq.

Of course, now it’s at a peak (so far) with magats threatening civil war.

Kamala Harris has a long difficult road ahead of her. A road not entirely her choice or making. Win or lose it doesn’t matter, the moment is upon her, and in many ways the road will be more difficult if she wins. Rather she is up to the challenges ahead only time will tell. I hope she receives wise advice and emerges OK. Our prayers should always be with an American doing her best.

Using absolutes like, “all” just creates an unrealistic scenario that will almost certainly not happen. Think better. Think stronger. Think more practically. This world isn’t set up for harmony.

Harmony, California is an unincorporated community in San Luis Obispo County. Its population is listed at 18 people so there’s probably room for some more, but we can’t ALL live there.

In 1791 conservatives opposed our constitution. conservatives quit the U.S. in 1860. conservatives invaded, made war and killed U.S. soldiers from 1861 to 1865. A conservative killed Lincoln. Every Republican/conservative president since 1929 has had a depression or recession, some had two. The only president to resign his office in disgrace of being a crook was a conservative. The only violent transition of power came in 2021 supported by conservatives and led by the fascist insurrectionist tRump. conservatives still defend and support him and his insurrection. conservatives are the enemy of the United States of America, and have been since 1774.

We will likely never all live in harmony.

We won’t live in harmony as long as there are people who believe that taking is a better action than earning. Unfortunately, that belief appears ingrained into our genetics…

Recently I saw a video of John McCain at a campaign rally where an older woman says that she just couldn’t abide by Obama because he was an Arab. McCain very politely tells her that isn’t true and that Barack was a decent, honorable man that just happened to have a different opinion on what the country needs to do. Could you imagine that happening today? Such a tone would be impossible for Trump to adopt and Harris couldn’t tell a whopper like that.

We’re getting a little deep into the vitriol, folks. It’s worth remembering that every generation is going to sort itself into roughly even numbers of right and left leaning people. The beauty, and curse, of our system is that it requires the cooperation of the 2.

More important question is “why are we floating through a desert with no name?”
