Years ago, some friends were visiting in a small town in upstate New York which had a Chinese restaurant, so they decided to try it. One of the items on the menu was duck, so they ordered it. They were told that it would take a while, but eventually were told there was a problem and they’d have to order something else.

The next day, the friends they were visiting showed them a headline in the local paper. The restaurant’s chef had been arrested for trying to capture a duck from the pond in the town center.

The idea that he gets his ducks from a wholesaler is just an old canard.
