No wind either. Not counting the solar wind.

That dog is a star. It is Sirius.

Maybe the Observers could hear him bark!

Laika inspired other dogs to become spacefarers, such as Barf, Lone Starr’s loyal companion aboard the Eagle 5 in the movie Spaceballs.

D@mn instincts, they’ll come back and bite you in the butt every time. You wonder why dogs have the instinct… I mean, there weren’t a lot of cars around in prehistoric times.

True. No one could hear her bark. Or moan. Or whine. Or whimper. Or cry. Or anything else she did, as she most certainly would have. There was no one there to respond or care. We, the human race, did that to her with utterly cold-hearted cruelty. Our dogs would tear us iimb from limb if they knew, and rightly so.

Who’s idea was it to put in a space capsule window that the dog could open while in space?

This would be a good addition to the strip.

Oh, my, but that is too funny. And SO apropos!

Speaking of hindsight, they probably shouldn’t have installed the doggie door either.

He’s lucky he wasn’t blinded by a micrometeroid. People, keep you dog inside your car. I speak from bitter experience.

“My Life as a Dog” by Lasse Hallström is a beautiful/sad film about 12 y/o Ingemar growing up and includes his musings about Laika and her cruel fate. Moonglow gets teary just remembering that movie!
