There was an episode of the 1970s TV cartoon of Fred Basset which was obviously influenced by this particular strip and others in which Fred appears to influence other characters and events. It was also one of at least three episodes of the TV series in which Fred hypnotises Jock.
I was over at a friend’s house on Friday, and all it took to get her taken out was her to sit up for a minute without moving and a sad look. You learn their cues pretty quickly, or you get a puddle on your carpet.
