I know a guy who has a huge collection of books purchased solely for the covers. He built bookcases all over his house to hold them all. He rotates them to display several in a glass case in the living room.
My brother read the summary for A Bell for Adano and would do book reports on it constantly, LOL! I read SF and Horror. I went to Catholic School and couldn’t write book reports on literature of SATAN! So I would do them on Classics Illustrated comic books instead.
I used to get books that had a description of the plot on the back cover or inside the book cover and based my report mostly off that. Got away with it most of the time untill I discovered a book subject I liked and read the whole thing and became an avid reader

He should learn that you can’t judge a book by its cover.

Never understood the learning reason on book reports other than to make you read a book.

Obviously today and yesterday, their school already started and without a Hammie tantrum about it.

When he gets older he will discover Clif-Notes! Not so much these days as plots and synopsis are found on line!

When he gives his report in front of the class, it will probably be similar to Bart Simpson giving this report on Treasure Island lol

you can’t judge honey by looking at the bee
you can’t judge a daughter by looking at the mother
♫ you can’t judge a book by looking at the cover
you can’t judge sugar by looking at the cane
you can’t judge a woman by looking at her man
you can’t judge a sister by looking at her brother
♫ you can’t judge a book by looking at the cover
you can’t judge a fish by lookin’ in the pond
you can’t judge right from looking at the wrong

thank goodness for Cliff’s Notes! (altho back before the web there was a similar publication I preferred that I would often use for book reports)

Paul McCartney once got tripped up by confusing the title with the publisher, and tried to bluff his way through a report on “The Bodley Head.”

Well this will be a surprise, Hammie might get an F+ on this assignment instead of his usual F.

Good luck with that Hammie.

Don’t judge a book report by the fact that it’s only based on its cover.
Sometimes you can tell a lot about a book by its cover – - -
- after all the book cover does cover the whole book.
