Deep fried is the best option short of gumbo. In my opinion, of course.

How to cook Okra. Wash the Okra thoroughly to remove slime. Heat a frying pan to medium head while the okra drains. Fry several slices of bacon in the frying pan. When fully cooked, remove the bacon. Take the okra and throw it in the trash. Enjoy the bacon.

FRIED OKRA. My favorite way to eat it. Pass the ketchup. BTW aka LADY FINGERS? Could that be where the title of the tune by Herb Albert came from? Also. Okra has beautiful flowers. Sci. name, “Hibiscus esculentus.” Sure, related to cotton, another hibiscus. Or you might want to say ’(Malvaceae)" You might have eaten Marshmallow? Marsh Mallow, Another Hibiscus. “The root was formerly used to make marshmallows, a confection.” All those beautiful flowers.

Okra is a delicious fruit, especially if it’s freshly cut. It can be eaten raw or (very) lightly fried. The biggest mistake is to treat it like green beans and boil it. My 1950’s mother knew no other way to prepare it, so I detested the dish for decades. Fried okra is often over-battered in an apparent attempt to remove all vestiges of its natural flavor; you may as well be eating tater-tots. Go easy on the wheat/corn flour, drop them in very hot oil until they change color, drain, and enjoy! It’s one of the most unfairly maligned fruit, and I blame lazy mothers for all the children who hate it “because it’s slimy”.

People who advocate for stuff like Okra and Lima Beans have gotten “Edible” (as in it won’t poison you if you eat it) confused with “Good to Eat”…
