Even old words were originally made up by somebody, including old words like “neologism”.

I never understood why when I asked my mother how to spell a word, she’d say look it up in the dictionary.

One of the best “Black Adder” episodes involved Blackadder torturing Samuel Johnson by making up words that he’d left out of his dictionary.

Must be Shakespeare’s ancestor.
