Seeing as how you were trying to sell those cheap, worthless umbrellas, I can’t work up any sympathy for you guys getting all wet. Sorry, but I’m not sorry.
NATIONAL SUNFLOWER DAY. I have some big sunflowers in my garden.
NATIONAL VFR DAY. National VFR Day is the first Saturday in August and we are showing support for veterans and first responders needing mental health services. Let’s use National VFR Day to provide veterans, first responders, and their families with the tools and support they need to allow them to thrive as individuals and as a family.
NATIONAL HAIR GLOSS DAY. I never heard of hair gloss, so I had to read more. This is what I found:What is hair gloss? Hair gloss is like lip gloss, meaning it adds a special coating that makes hair shine. In technical terms, hair gloss is a treatment that seals the cuticle of the hair to enhance hair tone. When hair gloss is applied, the cuticle become smooth showing radiant hair tone and sheen. If you are looking to try a new shade or change your hair color for the first time, a hair gloss application is for you. Also known as demi-permanent hair color, hair gloss is a gentler form of color that fades gradually over time, meaning you won’t get harsh root regrowth. Results can last anywhere from 4-6 weeks.

NATIONAL GRAB SOME NUTS DAY. I know what some of you are thinking, but I’m not going there!
While delivering kitty mats to Susan at PetCo yesterday, a young woman started to walk by with a husky puppy in her cart. I asked if I could pet it and we started talking.
She had just arrived from San Berdu (in CA) after finding it on the street. She saw a woman not far from the puppy so asked if it was hers. This woman said she didn’t want it and was getting rid of it! OMG! The young woman was appalled and took it. Got it food and water and drove to Hurricane, where she’d just moved to. She stopped at PetCo even before going home. We talked for a while and she was there to get more food, ear meds, flea meds (once those are gone she won’t have to worry about them again. It’s too hot and dry for fleas here). She knows she needs to see a vet so I told her about our vet. She can’t afford a lot right now but I went over and talked to Susan. I know she helps out people like this. (It’s part of what her donations are for) Susan told me to give this girl her card. And, I know the vet has a donation fund for people since I donate to it. I offered to stay with the puppy in the cart while she looked for things. By now Brad was in love with said puppy. He went over and got some small tennis balls and a soft teddy bear for the puppy. About then we needed to leave to we took the cart/puppy to the girl and Brad gave her the toys.
Man, talk about getting their comeuppance. That’s going to be one soggy memo. On another note, saw a robin, two juncos, and a dragonfly while out walking today.
The only place I have seen “bumbershoot” is in Paul Bunyan stories. Specifically, they are mentioned in a story where it rained so hard in China that it was raining UP from the ground. Paul Bunyan’s answer was

Hey, even your cheap shears were guaranteed for 24 hours. That umbrella didn’t last 24 seconds.
