In the United States, to actually receive unemployment one must have a minimum level of wages their base period (roughly the first four of the last five calendar quarters before opening a claim). Otherwise they are not eligible to receive any money. Does Britain have a similar requirement in their system? If so how is Our Hero receiving any dole money?
Until my retirement, except while attending university, I was working from age 18. I even worked during school breaks, too. This doesn’t count the earlier times I made money delivering newspapers and mowing yards.
