Friend was driving me to a doctor’s appointment in another city. GPS instructed him to turn right and I had to stop him from doing so but to continue straight.
I haven’t needed to use the GPS recently, but it seems to me that when it said “recalculating”, it would always sound slightly exasperated. It did its best, though.
I’ve always wanted to be able to switch to a GPS voice based on the stereotypical Long Island Jewish mother. “If you cared about me, you’d turn right here. But you don’t care about your mother. You never do what I tell you to. You never call. No matter what I say you always just….” Of course, I’d want to be able to turn it off again.
Sometimes I jokingly say to my wife, “I’m going to go this way, just to drive the GPS crazy.” Never thought I’d see a cautionary tale about doing that.

I had this happen to me. The GPS just gave up.
Whenever I leave an Interstate rest area, it says something like, “Drive 26 miles.”
My response is, “Any particular direction?”

We are lead to believe it’s the GPS talking, but this guy actually has a very short wife.

Maybe he mistakenly loaded the mother-in-law voice in his navigator?

Some Waze voices are like that. They just won’t say so directly.

I want GPS so I can see where I am. I don’t want it to tell me which way to go. My issue is not knowing cross streets as signs tend to disappear.
