How Dickens could have created such a wonderful character as Miss Havisham, and made such little use of her, I’ll never understand. There should have been a sequels: Miss Havisham’s Revenge, Miss Havisham Goes to Paris, Miss Havisham Does Dallas . . .

She was expecting it to be about haircuts.

None of Dickens’ writings lived up to my expectations; I prefer lighter fare. Dad loved him.
