I remember some years ago a friend of mine and I went to San Diego for a vacation. We both fell asleep on the beach and when we woke up she had a HUGE splotch of bird poop on her leg. I thought I’d never stop laughing. (Cuz it wasn’t on me!)
About 40 years ago my wife and I went on vacation to see some friends who lived in San Juan Capistrano. They lived just a few miles from the beach, so we decided to spend a few hours playing in the waves, etc. It was a fairly warm day so my wife and I bought ice cream. There was a sign at the ice cream stand that informed us that should a seagull take the ice cream, to return with the receipt and it would be replaced and not to harm or bother the seagulls. Sure enough she got her scoops and was standing in front of the stand in the shade, there was this loud squawk and the seagull ripped the ice cream right off the cone. The vendor just sighed and got my wife a new cone. My wife to this day refuses to see the humor in it and laments the loss of two scoops of, in her opinion, excellent chocolate ice cream. I had vanilla, my favorite, and remained unmolested by the seagulls. Makes me wonder if chocolate it their favorite flavor.
The seagulls LOVED my dad!! (the feeling wasn’t mutual ,needless to say ;-) . ) Those things almost made off with my dad’s glasses case one time. If I told you what he said I’d be banned from here!!

Any food items not properly secured by something extremely heavy are the property of seagulls and don’t even try to stop them!
