Unfortunately more truth in this comic than one would want. “Shrink-flation” in products is no joke. These companies are definitely taking advantage of us consumers, and they do this no matter what political party is in charge.
I bought what I would call a medium size bag of chips, about 2 of the small single-serving size bags worth. Of course, there’s the “some settling may have occurred” wherein the bag is only half full. I ate about 75% in the first sitting. It’s crazy to me that this bag now sells for $6. I got it on sale for $5.50. The bag itself probably costs more to make than the chips inside. I doubt if every part of production costs more than $1 to make, and probably less than half that. It is insane the markup on food these days.
At 1 am 1998, at a 7-11, a Mello yellow marked at $.98 went to register rang up $1.68. I said something, clerk said “I haven’t had time to change the price tags”. I said well you can now replace the drink in the cooler also!
I was about 8 years old, I had 2 pennies and was trying to decide on penny candy or gum. The guy behind the counter yelled “MONEYYYYY!!” at me, I threw my pennies at him and never went back.
Because of how some store personnel treated me or my friends or my sisters when husband and I went into the handcrafted business I was very nice to children and made sure that husband was also. Their $5 was as good as anyone else’s.

Those aren’t “chips”; they’re crumbs.

If I were that store’s manager, that guy would be on his way to the unemployment office.

Do it for him, smash all the chip bags on the way out saying, “what a great idea!” and never return
