    Italian cooking is hyper-regional, obsessed with “purity” especially if it’s mythical, and rejects experimentation. It never really recovered from Mussolini. Americans made pizza better and set off a wave of innovation which was exported back to Italy and claimed by them once the serial numbers were filed off. The reason people like pineapple on pizza is that it’s delicious. Same reason they don’t like pickled herring with crabapple on pizza; those aren’t delicious. And do you know what? India does pizza better than the US or Italy

    I’m with him. I don’t want pineapple on my pizza and I take my coffee straight and black, with no flavorings or other adulterants.

    It’s September and it’s the everything pumpkin time of year for my wife. She made pumpkin bars to take to her brother yesterday.

    Hawaiian pizza is a pizza originating in Canada, traditionally topped with pineapple, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and either ham or bacon.

    HistorySam Panopoulos, a Greek-born Canadian, created the first Hawaiian pizza at the Satellite Restaurant in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada, in 1962. Inspired in part by his experience preparing Chinese dishes which commonly mix sweet and savoury flavours, Panopoulos experimented with adding pineapple, ham, bacon, and other toppings. These additions were not initially very popular.

    The addition of pineapple to the traditional mix of tomato sauce and cheese, along with either ham or bacon, later became popular locally and eventually became a staple offering of pizzerias on a global scale. The name of this creation was not directly inspired by the U.S. state of Hawaii at all; Panopoulos chose the name Hawaiian after the brand of canned pineapple they were using at the time.
