No, they need to be reminded what exactly a meal is.

I have never eaten what Dean has on his plate though I have stepped in it on a few occasions.

Just a thought, did the Philly School District ever decide to try a product known as Soylent Green in their cafeterias?

University, lunch dessert on Monday was Jello. Tuesday was Jello and Whipped cream, Wednesday was Jello, whipped Cream and a cherry, Thursday was Jello, whipped cream, a cherry and nuts, Friday was…well.. you get the idea. We swore the Jello powder came in a 45 gallon drum. We called it “Janitor In A Drum” ( you had to have lived in the 70s to understand that one)

Strip looks different since labor day, like it’s drawn by someone else.

In France, schools allot two hours for lunch. It is fine French cooking, of course. Part of that time is play time. Jobs for adults in France have two hours for “le déjeuner” as well.

School lunches in my district are delicious as well as nutritious. Attractively served by a pleasant, professional staff who take great pride in their work. You know it’s true when your son-in-law who works at the high school asks for cash to be loaded onto his lunch money account as a Christmas gift each year!

Reminds me of what Calvin would interpret as his dinner being served.

Not to be pedantic, but is is not the lunch laday who decides on the menu. It is the nutritionist’s job. The question is: does every school have one, or is there only one nutritionist for the whole board?

Speaking from teachers’ stories, the only time a prescribed lunch was served was when the nutritionist let the school know that she was coming for an inspection…all other times, they threw together what was on hand because the rest was stolen through the back door by the caffeteria workers. Yes it would have been so much better if the visits and inpections were un-announced…
