Good morning y’all! One year a hail storm broke all the windows in my school so we ended up with a maze of portable classrooms like Petey’s. It didn’t feel like real school at all!

The kids in class will probably start calling him Bleedy Petey.

    That’s a really beautiful nurse’s station.

For a second there, I thought he was back home, but then I read the caption.

In our schools, both elementary and high school, the nurse’s station had a vinyl mattress at the ready. Both the pillow and the blanket were, probably, in a cupboard and handed out only when needed. There was a row of chairs with vinyl seats too, and those were the ones that were occupied sometimes. I never had to use those rooms. So how do I know how they looked inside? Well, both of them were right by the office, and the doors were always open, so you could see who was there, and wave to them, if you knew that kid.

A hero’s journey, to be sure, Petey. Joseph Campbell would be proud.
