A very subtle pun on the medieval “Bayeux Tapestry”.

A “tapas tree”? Where can I get one?

Just repeating the proper name: Tapisserie de Bayeux

OK, then, substitute the word “Bayeux” for “by you” and read it again. Is there a “joke” in the first sentence? No. The joke is in the second sentence. If it was in the first, why did he go on with the second?

Oh! That is clever!

Many years ago, a friend built a cardboard boat for a friendly competition that he optimistically named Blew by You.

In a book about the Grateful Dead, the author (a friend of the band) mentioned keyboardist Tom Constantin and “….one of the obscure multi-lingual puns that made him so lonely.”

Wow. That’s might be better than any of the puns in Pearls Before Swine.

It is also true that the Bayeux Tapestry is not a tapestry (with woven design), but an embroidery, like a sampler.
