Today’s strip reminds me of a story that I read in a collection of new Sherlock Holmes fiction. The writer of the story used a Hansom cab driver as the narrator rather than Watson. Holmes says to the cab driver, “I need you to create a diversion for me.” The cab driver points to Watson and says, “Isn’t that usually his job?” Holmes explains that he has another job for Watson so the cab driver acts as Watson in creating a diversion for Holmes as well as in later narrating the story.
Ah. Smoke bombs. Of course. In the spirit of Arthur Conan Doyle, this story shall be called The Valley of Smoke Bombs. Or maybe, just to cover all eventualities, The Misadventures of the Tortie.
The house in Kernville (the one above he river) is a no go. The title company found too many little oddities that the CU won’t be giving a loan on.
The GoFund me is still going.
I’m still going to need a house and septic inspection. And, what i thought was a fee, the title company will need ernest money. About what the goal i already set was.
I’m going to go look at a couple houses in Otis/Rose Lodge.
To make my life more miserable than it already is, i got to work this morning and my client wasn’t there. I call the hospital and they inform me that he is being sent back to the valley to a bigger hospital. Again.

Re no comics this morning anywhere: just mentioning, my GC morning email has todays for all the ones I follow, so I could at least read them there, but yeah, when I try to click through to the site on any of them, yep nothing.
All I will say about today’s strip, having read it at Arcamax, is BUBBLES! Maybe it went up in one of Ora Zella’s BUBBLES, taking everything with it like some sort of comic, bubblapocalyptic (I made that word up just now) black, but not black, hole?

But Auntie Goldie, You won’t even know i’m here……Aside from the chaos and destruction I’ll bring. That Smokey Ball of Chaotic Cuteness.

Be careful, Puck. Those two look like she might have graduated from smoke bomb to cherry bomb!

But… how can she be the unseen face of chaos if everyone can see her, uncle Puck?

Hey, Ora Zella, actually we do need a distraction. All the way on the other side of the house. Run along now, get to it.

I predict she’s going to get into it with the mice, who are very good at distraction.

It’s cute that Ora Zella’s ears are flattened under her cap until “Unless you need me to make a distraction!” in panel 3.

Batman uses smoke bombs.
.
Batman is the World’s Greatest Detective.
.
Therefore, using smoke bombs will make you the World’s Greatest Detective.
.
My logic is unassailable.

Hey look her over, in gumshoe gear
Fresh as October, cuteness up to here
Don’t she look great, Auntie, don’t pass her up
I figure whenever you’re looking about she can help you find whazzup
She can light up a smoke bomb close to the crime
Don’t thumb your nose ’cause it will distract big time
She’s a little bit small with a large kaboom and to her charm you will succumb
So look out world, here she comes!

Be careful, Goldie. That’s what Mr. Incredible said to Buddy, and we all know what happened there. (Does OZ’s coat count as a cape?)

Maybe the mice and Gutter should have taken OZ with them on the Great Sophie Rescue? The Tidy house would have not survived her level of destruction!

Ora Zella, sweetie, give Papa Puck the smoke bombs. There’s a good smol cat.
