Brilliant! Why wash when you can disguise?

A brown car will just be covered with light colored dust and dirt. And don’t forget about the pollen.

My experience is that tan is the color that shows dirt the least.

In the sixties my father (and many others) covered the car with a plastic tarpaulin. To recognize the car they wrote the license plate number on it.

I had a yellow car, washed to 2 times a year when I lived in AZ. Never looked dirty. Now in FL our dry season sets in this week (except major storms) and I now have a black car…it shows the dust. So I have to wash it sometimes when the mood hits me

My first car was a 1976 Oldsmobile Starfire that was a cream color (the true color of “dirt” in the west), and it would just get a bit “darker”, until I got around to washing it. :-)

buy a white car – everyone expects it to be dirty and who are you to disappoint them.

My current car is the most expensive one I’ve ever owned – I never wash it, currently it gets washed by the garage when it goes in and if it needs doing it goes down the local hand carwash who do a better job in 20 minutes than I’d do in an hour.

My ex father in law always bought red cars so the dirt didn’t show. He lived in southern Oklahoma, next to the red river. The clay dust was hidden pretty well.

My “new” car (4 years old with only about 2600 miles when I bought it) still looks it. I take it to the local drive through car wash at least once a week on the monthly pass. Had it a year and I still get complimented on how good it looks

I base my car washing decision, not on the day of the week, but what the weather forecast is. Right now, here in the midwest, we haven’t had a good rain in quite a while. I’ve not had to cut the grass in a while too.

I see all kinds of color cars, including some glow in the dark colors, but I haven’t seen one brown car.

Speaking about car colors…has anyone noticed that 90% of the cars on the road are either black, white, silver or gray?? Occasionally you get a red or blue.

Part of owning a car is keeping it clean, Brutus. Especially black cars, for which I have.

I had an uncle who was a car guy. Owned several that he kept in a garage that rarely were driven out on the road. Every Saturday, he pulled them all out and washed them, then put them back. He had a pristine ‘70 4-4-2 that was incredible. When he sold it, the owner had to replace all the tires and the water pump before he got it home a couple hundred miles away.

I hand wash my car but not every week.

Brutus, just put on Car Wash by Rose Royce and wash your current car.

Then a dust storm in Africa is going to send red dirt your way…

that way, you can’t tell if it’s dirty or clean… until you can’t open the door from the mud that stuck to it. :}

If only that were true. Run it thru a pay car wash once or so a month as needed. That weekly wash andis a routine l would break especially during college football season….

My car gets a free car wash when I get my oil changed. I have had the car almost 3 years on a lease, and the car wash and oil have been done once. They won’t complain once they see the very low mileage. Plus, I will be a repeat customer for the 3rd time there if they don’t give me grief. I always ask for the color closest to dirt. I usually get a color offer of silver, light grey, or champagne, but this time it’s more of a medium silver/grey. I don’t care, since I am not going to wash it. It spends most of the time in my garage anyway. The dealership causes me major migraines, which is one reason why I don’t want to go spend hours there.

No no no! Dirt will show more…trust me.

Two weeks ago, I took my car through the car wash, and vacuumed and wiped down the interior — all for the first time in about two years. The occasion? My daughter got married last Sunday.

Sometimes you just need the right motivation.
