One of my favourite UK comics as a boy was a weekly comic called Monster Fun. The final issue of Monster Fun was dated 30 October 1976 – an appropriate date for the last issue of a monster-themed comic since it was the day before Halloween.
One of the comic strips inside Monster Fun was called Teddy Scare and featured a boy named Eddie Bailey whose teddy bear would come to life and turn into a King Kong-sized bear. One strip had Eddie spot two bank robbers running out of a bank. He placed his teddy bear in their path. The teddy bear turned into Teddy Scare and chased the two robbers into an alley. Eddie Bailey told some police constables were the robbers had gone. The police found the two robbers trapped at the end of the alley and cowering in fright from a little teddy bear.
That strip was a little like Calvin and Hobbes but also very different. Watterson would explain in The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book, “I do not see Hobbes as a stuffed doll who miraculously comes to life when alone with Calvin…Calvin sees Hobbes one way. Everyone else sees Hobbes another way.”
One of the foremost responsibilities of Calvins and Hobbs exclusive club G.R.O.S.S. is to make sure you (Get Rid Of Slimy GirlS) any way possible. Could be his view of the “cootie” effect. Hmm.

If the person is sane, the booger won’t be a living creature.

What makes a booger come to life??

A while back, Mom attended a parent-teacher meeting. Apparently, it was a waste of time, since there is NO change in Calvin’s behavior!

I’m trying — I really am trying to decide which is the more obnoxious…Calvin or Hammie. They both make me appreciate having raised a dog.

Remove the 2 inch long booger and you can breath. Now flick it at the slug.

Susie’s only choices are to sit with Calvin, sit with Moe, or sit alone.
Sitting with Moe is clearly out of the question.
As an adult I quite enjoy sitting alone most of the time but at Susie’s age I can see where it’s not healthy.
So sitting with Calvin is the least bad option. But it’s still not good.
