Just noticed that the girl they’re talking about spells her name as C-a-t. Doesn’t Heart’s pal spell her name K-a-t???

At this point, “Cat” better be a person’s name and not a feline.

I wonder how many “Taylor’s” have been born in recent years … or Justin’s.

Yes, I see that it’s “cat” vs “kat” but that tells me nothing. Are we supposed to know what he’s talking about?

In real life: In my son’s elementary class days starting with Kindergarten, there were 5(!) boys with the same first name in that class alone. They solved it among themselves by asking the teacher to call them by their last name. They went by their last name until they finished elementary school.

The girls, on the other hand, were unusually attached to their first names, and wanted to be called by their first name. Remember the Michelle craze? Well, my girls were the ones where that name popped up endlessly throught out their elementary and highschool years. My daughters always qualified their names with their first initial of their second name, since sometimes, their last names would have had the same initial…

Thankfully, we didn’t name our kids by any of those “in” names… We gave them good old-fashioned names that were in our family for ages…

While in elementary and middle school there were two other boys with the same first name as mine. And our last names all started with the same letter. We solved it the same way those in IJennyJenkins’ story did. We didn’t solve it so much as our first grade teacher, a retired Marine, imposed it on us. But she did that to everyone.

The huge insecurity of teens. It’s nice to have survived that age.

Unless they’re talking about a girl named Catherine, as opposed to Heart’s pal Katherine. The name can be spelled either way.
