Reminds me of when my son was about 3. We’d had a busy morning. I told him it was nap time. He said “No nap!”. I said “Fine, it’s not for you – it’s for me. I’m tired. If you can stay quiet you can play near me.”. Well he hated being alone, so he stayed with me and once he was settled enough he took a nap anyway. Naps / time-outs are wonderful reset buttons.
I play better by myself. Have since kindergarten. Teacher would try to encourage me to “play with the other kids” or “do a different puzzle” during free play. Between my family and our best friends there were always 6 of us playing together. I needed the quiet play. The puzzle had soft rounded pieces, not sharp angular pieces. I craved the gentleness.
Why, Aunty? I can’t imagine that you want to be able to play nice with others (aside from requiring a total personality makeover, it would kill the comic). And when you’re done, good luck finding anyone who wants to play nice with you.

I have a JPG of a kitten saying, “Sorry, my play nice button is out of order. However, my bite me button works just fine.”

I think Aunty has Medusa somewhere far back in her ancestry. It would be interesting for her to appear on “Finding Your Roots.”

One of the nice things about getting old is learning when you should “sit one out.”

Introvert. Retired. I can have all the “time out” I want. It’s WONDERFUL.

I play nice but sometimes I get in trouble because I speak out what I’m thinking.
