I really like Nate, but he’s not a fast learner. There’s something to be said about persistence, but trying to convince the leaves to remain green and to stay on the trees year after year just hasn’t worked, and he should probably recognize it’s lost cause by now.
Leaves fall to protect the tree. Leaves constantly transpire water and require energy. Shedding them when there is not enough daylight to make them useful is a important evolutionary survival feature.
The light is so beautiful in autumn, along with the leaves showing off their “true” selves. Wouldn’t trade it, even if it means that February is somewhere down the road.
