/// Seurat’s not a devout, holy chap. Sure,

that is why he remained here to capture

    on canvas with paint,

    (because he’s no Saint),

scenes before and then after the rapture.

Pointillism is a tedious procedure but was much easier until everyone wanted to get in the picture.

Tony knew that he shouldn’t have stopped for that Chalupa Supreme from Taco Hell on his way to the beach.

That’s how we walked right into Gallatoire’s in New Orleans, where even Huey Long had to wait in line. We went during a Saints game.

Here is one representation of “The World Without Us,” when giant jellyfish dominate the waterways — especially the huge ‘Portuguese Man O’War’.

The second picture makes it much easier to see where the dog piddled on the grass.

It is in France so the second picture is more likely to be on the day of a World Cup game.

Some waggish art historians refer to B as “Monday Afternoon on La Grande Jatte.” It’s a study for Seurat did for the piece.

Pretty sure the French are not big on our Super Bowl. They have their own sports ad-fests.

A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Seine River in art" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found (again, DuckDuckgo finds its alternate name and requires an extra click), and once there find the text string Sunday, and click its link for info and links that point to more info (perhaps best viewed by the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers, which can automatically translate most webpages if necessary) about the huge painting referred to as A. B is the study pointed to in Other versions

Again, a larger strip image is shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s THROWBACK FRIDAY: MASTERPIECE #1876 (2/1/18) (September 5, 2024) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. I have added a comment there pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 5 works by him have been used here (4 times total, 2 of them were dual strips, including this Throwback Friday repeat), the February 1, 2018, strip being its first use. The July 24, 2014, and October 27, 2015, strips are the others by him, so far. GoComics has deactivated the hyperlinks and removed the new lines in my comments there; but, perhaps the text remains informative.

    Some comments from 2/1/2018:

BE THIS GUY: Somebody yelled, “it’s happy hour at the Moulin Rouge,” and the park became empty.

J Short: After a weekend in jail, and another week of community service; everyone started taking those “Keep Off The Grass!” signs seriously.

    Call me Ishmael: Manet – 57, Seurat – 0 !

    MissScarlet: Que Seurat, Seurat.

gcarlson: Going for the extra Pointilist.
