I know “it’s just a comic strip” but geeze the setup for this “event” is just poorly wirtten and was dragged out far, far longer than it should have been. How was the cat able to get into the basement? And apparently to keep going back and forth without any assistance. Who put the blanket in a box for the cat? How did they not notice the cat was pregnant as there are signs? Three kittens is a really, unusully small litter. Jimbo probably has never been around a cat, especially a pregnant one. (When I was about seven, we had two cats who had litters within days of each other. One litter was 12 kittens and the other 8 so ,for a moment or two, we had 22 cats. Not sure how we handled this and probably don’t want to know.)
This means Mee-Meow won’t get spayed til the kittens are at least 8 weeks old, & they should be spay/neutered, too before Walt & Gertie adopt them out.
Well, at least it didn’t take until october as I had feared. 3 Kittens is an odd number to settle on, though… we used to have a pretty serious problem with strays sneaking into our shed to have kittens, and going by the photographs, there was never fewer than five in a litter.
