Irrelevant to the above comic, but I heard on TV Tropes (the “Two Decades Behind” page) that Dana said in a reply to a comment on this site that while other comic strip cartoonists model parent characters off of memories of their own parents which leads to the characters feeling antiquated (Calvin’s parents are a perfect example), she modeled Phoebe’s parents instead off of her gamer nerd friends who had kids to make them feel more modern.
Does anyone have a link to the P&HU comic where she said that?
My mother had an aunt Jane whose son Charlie was not neurotypical. Among other things, he had no sense of smell. Aunt Jane brought him along when she visited because that was her duty. She would introduce him to new friends so: “… and this is my son Charlie. Charlie doesn’t smell, you know.”

If your left armpit smells different from your right armpit, you could incorporate that feature into a dance.

When angry, Phoebe once called Marigold stinky. But she also said “fat,” which is clearly inaccurate.
