At least I lived to see the Cubs win one. Could hardly believe it when they got that last out.
As the camera panned through the stands at the end, I thought I saw a mustachioed man in an old fashioned suit spilling something. Not sure what that led to, but I don’t care. It’s all about me.
What’s generally forgotten is that, before the 108-year drought, the Cubs won three World Series in four years. The were the first team ever to win back-to-back.
My family lived north of Chicago 1957-63. All Cub home games were on TV. It was the era if Ernie Banks and Moose Moryn. The only drawback was announcer Jack Brickhouse, one of the worst homers I’ve ever heard. As a third generation Giants fan I loved it when they came to town. Wrigley Field was made for them.

I don’t read the vertical ones. Did the Cubs drag fans out of their seats and pummel them senseless while singing “25 or 6 to 4?”

But look at all of the great war movies. Millions dead is a small price to pay for such art.
