I googled “list of movies where the villain wins”, and got quite a list.
Disclaimer: I haven’t seen most of these movies, so I can’t confirm how they end. This list is from IMDB, and is titled “Greatest Movies Where the Bad Guy Wins”.
My wife and I have been enjoying Randolph Scott movies, where movie code does not allow the bad guy/girl to win in the end. Nice escape with all the insanity happening in the world today.
I think the original Thomas Crown Affair movie was one of the first times that the bad guy won, crime paid, etc. And these days, we ALL need a Hammy hug.
Megamind is about the villain trying to find a new path in life after (supposedly) defeating his arch nemesis. It’s the classic nature vs. nurture story.
Reminds me of in the credits of the Over the Hedge movie where RJ and the other animals were discussing TV when Hammy brought up the plot of Star Trek II, before he admitted that they were doing a retrospective on TNT.
Some would consider Don Corleone a villain, not super, but still, he was just a man looking out for his family the best way he knew how. A lot of villains win by doing the right thing even though society might disagree.

Well, that just spoiled it for me.

There was also a comedy western where the blonde girl chose the villain over the hero, I forgot the title, though.

Neat of them to mention a Dreamworks movie in a strip which would one day become a Dreamworks movie.
