Oh Fred. You done her wrong. And yes, words can hurt much more than a clout. That guilt you feel, you earned, but I gotta say, Mrs. Dear should have put those steaks way back on the counter out of your reach and your baser instincts that you pretty much always give into.
Reminds me of my godson when he was little. Friend baked muffins and left them in the tray to cool on top of the stove. Center muffin disappeared, then another. The stood behind the door and peered through the hinged part. He had hidden a big stuffed animal next to the stove. Yep. Pulled it out, got on top of it and reached in.
I’m a dog owner and know better than to leave food out where my Lizzie can reach it. Often times, blaming ‘others’ is an excuse to deny personal responsibility!
One of my greyhounds stole a loaf of bread that was cooling on the counter. I don’t know if it was Katie Bell or Boss Bailey, but I’m certain they shared their ill-gotten gains.
Let me get this straight. She has a dog. Yet she persists in leaving meat out on the table or the counter, unattended, for long periods of time, instead of keeping the meat in the fridge until she is ready to cook it. The dog ain’t the problem here…

How hard can it be to keep steaks away from a short legged dog?

If they were in that basket you were making him lug, how is it that you are surprised?

More than 40 years ago, my black Lab took our stakes off the BBQ. We had baked potatoes and salad for dinner.
