When Simon and Garfunkel first became known, it never occurred to me that Garfunkel was anybody’s real name. I figured it was a whimsically made-up name along the lines of Bullwinkle, which led me to conclude that the name of his partner Simon was probably borrowed from Simon the chipmunk, and that as a duo their billing was meant to recall Rocky and Bullwinkle.

When we were in high school, a friend had a guy classification system rating males as Hunks, Chunks or Chipmunks. Al is DEFINITEY a Chipmunk!
