my dad and mom would agree the polits weren’t worth the vote, so they might as well stay home. she would agree & stay home. & then he would go out and vote. ;)
Of course, it doesn’t much matter how we (the people) vote, since our votes don’t determine who’s the next president. Only the votes of the folks in the Electoral College are counted.
I sent a copy of this strip to an old (but lovely;-) friend of ours last night, and she responded to me:
“Funny!! But Walt, seriously, why do YOU think men and women (of all people) want him in the Oval Office??? I somehow think, in my husband’s case, that Trump and his crazy followers make him feel powerful. My husband has never taken an interest in politics, but for some reason since 2016 he is drawn to having strong opinions on things he never cared about before. It’s like Trump has given him a voice, but an angry, hateful voice!!”
I think it’s a perfect storm. Take the internet, where on “Social (?)” media you can anonomously say anything out of your cake hole and no one can come after you. Combine it with Rupert Murdoch’s FOX “NEWS” with anchors that drag you to the right with “entertainment” (A.K.A. “misinformation”) – Hey! ‘Must be a good business model, that’s why we have low-rent imitators, like OANN and NEWSMAX. Sprinkle in some loudmouth children that somehow got elected to the Whitehouse, Congress, and the Senate, LOSE AN ELECTION – try to steamroll over the loss by mounting an insurrection where people died – and you’re well on the way to an America no one really wants. Importantly, choose some defenseless group to vilify and cast aspersions upon. “They’re eating the dogs!”REALLY? THAT’s what you’ve got?
You can’t have HATRED without a REDHAT
In times past, in a softer and gentler America, Sadie and I would proudly wear buttons, or have bumperstickers displaying our favored candidate(s) – Now, not so much – At the least your car’d be keyed – at the worst, well, You do know America has more guns than people, don’t you?
Sadie and I will have our ballots by the equinox – we’ll fill them out with BLUE ink, if not literally, and send them on their way magna cüm celeritate.
@Walter Kocker: The Fox Propaganda Channel deals in both misinformation (things that aren’t true stated by ignorant people) and disinformation (lies told by dishonest people). Of course, the talking airheads on the channel are slightly less imbecilic than Fox’s viewers…..

I wish the “liberal” media hadn’t given this away. I suspect some MAGAts may try to supervise their wives’ votes.
