In grammar school I traded my peanut-butter and jelly sandwich with my Italian buddy’s sandwiches. Real French roll with capicola, salami, mortadella. I loved the eggplant sandwiches with sauce. Eventually I married his older sister.
We had desks that had flip tops and you stored your stuff inside. I put an orange there and forgot about it till it turned green and stank. The nun was not happy, LOL!
In the second grade class that I volunteer at did a project involving potatoes about midway through the school year. One little boy’s mother found his in his backpack when school let out for the summer.

If you’re lucky, he might trade it for a Snicker’s© Bar.

if you know your son’s not going to eat it, why pack it? you already put grapes in the lunchbox – call that a win and move on.

Oranges make your hands sticky, unlike apples.

At least peel it. Otherwise, go with the sliced apples and caramel dipping sauce.

But will the orange still be around after Nov. 6?

Oranges taste great … too weak to peel?

Peel it for him and it won’t come home.
