I was at a big box store and saw an associate with a large box of pumpkins and a knife. Thought she was gonna carve the remaining pumpkins. Turns out she was breaking down the large box.
Years ago there was a guy in our office who was a talented artist. He could draw excellent portraits or caricatures. One Halloween he carved a very recognizable caricature of J. Edgar Hoover on a pumpkin. That was scary it its own way. He didn’t carve all the way through to the interior, just shallow like you’d do on a woodblock print.
The only problem I see is that the flat tool wouldn’t touch much of the curved pumpkin surface unless he hit it several times while rolling it across the surface.
How did Monty get the “guts” out of the pumpkin without cutting out the top? For me, that has always been the hardest and least enjoyable part of carving a natural pumpkin.

No chance of the knife slipping for realistic blood dripping costume.

Now, let’s see Mr. Brainyak get a candle in there.

The carving on the pumpkin is backwards.

I think I have “brain mold.” Or maybe “Jell-o brain.”

Now cut that out!

If it were that easy, you could do it with cookie cutters.

Just use your own brain for a mold, Monty. Oh. Sorry! :)

Should have put the Jello brain in the back of the refrigerator on St. Pat’s Day. Then by now, it would be moldy.

The “jig” is up! Now we know how you do it with such consistency.
