The first time I heard the word “flabbergasted,” I thought it had to do with a terrific discharge of pent up flatus, per ani.
Silly Horace should have followed Peter Gabriel’s example, and just stretched his mouth to let those big words come right out.
Reader: Hey, Horace, let me offer you my most enthusiastic contrafibularities.
Horace: What?
Reader: “contrafibularities”, sir? It is a common word down our way.Horace: [blank look]
Reader: Oh, I’m sorry, sir. I’m anaspeptic, phrasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused you such pericombobulation.
