I prefer blues played on a piccolo flute and banjo.

Could be worse. Hammy and George could be performing as an accordion and tuba blues duo.

Since when does RJ play oboe? I thought he played clarinet.

Back when he performed as a comedic musical act, Martin Mull would play a suburban white man blues song on slide ukulele using a vibrator as the slide.

“Woke up this afternoon, both my cars were gone

Woke up this afternoon, both my cars were gone

    I got so mad

I threw my drink across the lawn…’

I always thought that R.J. played clarinet. That’s not an oboe bell.

Sadly, it is impossible to play the blues on a bagpipe. Strictly pentatonic tones don’t include the “blue note”. Think “Amazing Grace” not “Kansas City Blues”. Having said that, some enterprising soul will probably figure out how to shorten one of the drones to get the needed note and make me wrong.

How do you play the blues on the bagpipes?

At the old South Renfaire, there was a guy who had 6-7 different styles of bagpipes, not just the war pipes most people are (unfortunately) familiar with.

I think oboe would have a great sound for the blues.

Have you checked the lyrics to most of those bagpipe songs? Those things will play 3 chords while you boogie through 12 bars. Oboe just sounds mournful.
