The canada goose flocks have almost completely destroyed their home turf and are migrating south. They come into crop fields and decimate them. They use the local ponds as their toilets and change the chemical makeup of the lake which kills all the fish – they cover the sidewalks with slippery droppings causing liability issues for the business owners and attack people as they walk by – they are a hazard that need to be eradicated.
It ain’t warm up here either right now or for the foreseeable future. The leader probably ate too much fermented grass and is a little woosey also known as drunk flying…….
Trivia question for the TBL-Verse: why is one side of the Flying V usually longer than the other? Answer: because there are more geese on that side. Duh. : )
If the geese stay for the winter, it isn’t because of that silly warming baloney, it’s because people feed them. As long as they get plenty of food, they will hang around all winter.
Used to have them in Denver a lot, back 40 years ago. You’d drive by fields and see seas of black and white bedded down. Used to be the coolest thing. That part of Denver is many years gone, too bad.
They wouldn’t want to come here to Georgia if it’s warmth they’re looking for. It’s been unseasonably cold here. I’ve been running my space heater for about a week.
We curse the Canadian Geese who won’t go home. And the state of CT laws prohibit “interfering” with them. I’d love to see the politicians who passed that law have to walk barefoot where those *&^%$ geese have been pooping!

There are a number of large ponds near my area. It often looks like the geese are lost, flying around almost in circles.

Some areas now have geese staying the entire year, as they have gotten warmer Winters.

where I used to live, we had a pair with a few goslings. Every time they came to the yard, there was one less. I think the snakes were getting them :(

The geese probably sense Mother Gargle is on the way and want to avoid her.
Haven’t seen any geese yet, just a few flocks of Sandhill Crane.
