With respect to the "Math Club”, I think it is more empathy.

Really? Poor standards are just that. They are standards! that’s what Agnes had.

i did my best to get cut from math squad, but the teachers insisted on keeping me as an example to the rest of the squad…

You could keep adding a spurious trailing s and hope for a section eight
