Used to have a Lab and a beagle/something mix. The Lab wasn’t the most intelligent dog, the other was and used to trick the Lab out of her bone.

I was thinking that this was the oldest copied premise I’d ever seen in a cartoon, but then realized that Adam and Eve is a lot older than Aesop, and has been used a lot more often.
