At least when we kept accounts and records on paper, an IT failure couldn’t completely shut down a business or a bank. Landline phones were much less vulnerable to communications failures. Sometimes I worry about the way we’ve abandoned keeping hard-copy backups and landline connections.

I’d like to see a comic about a dive bar. I think more Bukowski or Ironweed than Cheers. In the ’70s I worked in a pizza parlor close to 3 SRO hotels.
