Turkeys were domesticated by the Mayans in southeast Mexico 3000 years ago. They did not exist at that time in what is now the USA or Europe. Spaniards brought turkeys and other animals and plants back to Europe. Turkeys spread rapidly throughout Europe. English settlers brought turkeys along with other livestock to Virginia. However, the Pilgrims had no room for livestock or turkeys, only 2 dogs. It is extremely unlikely that there were any turkeys in New England when the Pilgrims arrived. Anyway, I like the myth better than the reality. I’d rather have turkey on Thanksgiving than a platter of pigeons.

“The Pilgrim carnage alone is amazing.”

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Don’t believe the old lies that the Pilgrims sought “freedom of religion”; they sought the freedom to force their cruel and bigoted religion on everybody else.

Now, if you write one called “The Santa Who Devoured Halloween and Thanksgiving,” you might have something.
