“Knocked once…
Wonder just what’s going on in there.” - “Green Door”
Go with the ‘flow’, Dad!
All that water is a big ‘turn off’ for Dad.
“The End of the World” - Skeeter Davis
Calvin: “Cause you don’t love me, anymore”
It’s ‘curtains’ for Calvin.
Calvin’s face is “A Whiter Shade of Pale”
Calvin wants a bath! “There’s a first time for everything.”
A nice warm bath might relax everybody’s nerves.
Well, if Dad had fixed that faucet like he was supposed to, then Calvin wouldn’t have had to try to fix it… so Dad can take away a lesson - Never put off until tomorrow what Calvin will decide to do for you today!
I had a neighbor who asked me how to change a faucet. I told him to turn off the water and remove the faucet. He turned off the hot and cold water, then cut the pipe BELOW the valve where there was water pressure. Looked a lot like Calviin’s kitchen.
“Stupidity cannot be cured with money, or through education, or by legislation. Stupidity is not a sin, the victim can’t help being stupid. But stupidity is the only universal capital crime; the sentence is death, there is no appeal and execution is carried out automatically and without pity.”
Gee dad I was only trying to help can I help it if things went bad. Dad get a better bucket start dumping water down the drain not in the yard as you might splash water all over the house and the yard won’t see any water. Calvin I really didn’t need your type of help with this as you made things worse. Hope the floors don’t warp as the wall don’t go bad.
Comicguy250–yeah, I noticed that (A) dad was able to open the door despite the massive volume of water behind it (and none of it seeped under the door–what a great job of weatherstripping!), and (B), there should have been a torrential flood coming out of the bathroom, with a subsequent drop in water level, but since this is a comic strip, I allowed for the artistic license.
Bear in mind, Dad, a just-released study found that corporal punishment lowers a child’s IQ by several points. Oh, never mind, this is a rerun, they hadn’t discovered it back then.
Note that Hobbes appears to be in an in-between depiction of real and doll. Interesting. He’s usually clearly one or the other, depending on whether Calvin is alone with him.
“Corporal punishment lowers a child’s IQ by several points”? And just how do the authors of said study know that? There are so many real and potential things wrong with that conclusion that it’s laughable.
Even if it did, it would be worth it to raise Calvin’s WQ (Wisdom Quotient) by a few notches and “save his life from Sheol”.
(Oh: pursuant to some sharp-eyed remarks above about the water level, I’ve put this under the tag “cartoon physics”. An ever-growing list, that is.)
Rakkav: the authors know that because they tested the IQ of a lot of people and then asked them all about how they were punished as kids. Not rocket science. I read it recently in the New York times. Go to their website and do a search (also not rocket science).

In a Calvin proof house there would be a floor drain in every room.

In a Calvin-proof house, there would be no house - just the wide open space of the outdoors.
