Neil deGrasse Tyson said you won’t end up in China if you dig to the other side of the Earth, I think he said you will end up in the Indian Ocean.

I’ve seen some potholes that seem that big almost every Spring. And always in the same locations. I would think they could find a “permanent” fix after a few years.

Marm …… Did you find any vaults or oil in your digs …… :)
