For some reason I get credit card offers in waves. I’ll go for months without them, and then suddenly Chase Bank and Discover will remember that I exist.
Calvin’s parents could really take some lessons from Phoebe’s parents, needing to learn to really get with the times so that they can see that not all technology is bad, it just depends on what you use it for.
These days, in many cases you can’t make a purchase or a deal unless you have a debit or credit card and agree to automatic withdrawal. It’s the second part there that really sucks.
The longer I live the more tiresome is the assumption that, because one technology comes in, its predecessor must be obliterated. Cars came in; horses are still wonderful. The telephone came in, people still like to visit in person. Digital came in, people now oooh and aah over vinyl. Get a clue, people. Email came in, and is now the bane of many an office worker. Letters, on the other hand, not so much.
I have one DEBIT card… It does everything… Literally everything… Without putting me debt… At speed… It doesn’t even make contact with the reader…
You dither over hand writing cheques… Counting out (and carrying) cash… Worry about full reimbursement in the the event of your credit card getting stolen… Worry about your credit card being cloned… Worry about Increasing debt… Worrying about having to ensure you pay your statement before incurring interest…
How does my DEBIT card sound like more work?
In the 27 years I’ve been on this forum, NO ONE has ever accused me of lying.
Frame three, of the above cartoon, Emily is complaining about the number of credit card offers they’ve received… My observation was that I hadn’t seen a credit card in over 22 years… Not a challenge… Not an argument… Not an accusation… Not even an opinion… Merely an observation… And for that I’m accused of being a liar… Almost the entire thread jumps on my back… Did I murder Phoebe (my granddaughter’s name actually) or something?
“Phoebe and Her Unicorn” was recommended to me by a friend… I love the cartoon… But the commentators here leave a great deal to be desired… But it will take more than the likes of you to stop me posting…
