It’s a fact of life: children growing up=parents growing old! But I’ll bet that everyone—parents and offspring alike—are glad when the teen “angst” years are over.
Elizabeth’s hair and glasses look pretty normal to me. Her splayed hands and stubby arms are another story. If she hated them, then that would be very sensible.
This one hits so close to home! My kiddos are leaving the nest, slowly, one by one. Gotta say, not a fan. I see my oldest daughter only twice a year because she’s in graduate school on the other side of the country.
Gee Cru-Elly, are you suddenly regretting all the ways you mistreated Mike? Screaming at him over his disorganized room, exiling him to your in-laws’ farm to sabotage his love life? Grounding him over Gordon’s joyride in your new car? Dumping responsibility for baby April on him so you could eat out with John?

The place seemed so clean and empty when the last one left.

It works both ways. Only at different periods of time. They have no idea how much they will miss her when Elly is gone.

It’s okay, Elizabeth. Mom loves you.

“I” before “E” except after “C” or when sounding like “A” as in “neighbor” or “sleigh.” But there’s one exception to this rule, and that’s weird.

It was not easy to lose Rhetta. Michael felt low as the Canada dollar.

I used to say “I hate this place!” at work at least twice a day. But no one ever hugged me!
