As Winnie once said, “The most exhilarating feeling is that of being shot at — and missed!” Or words to that effect… Just ask anyone who’s lost (or won) by a whisker. Ya made it, Danae! "Further deponent saith naught… "
Actually, mineral rights on Mars won’t be worth much, at least initially. There are the problems of transporting mining equipment to Mars and also the expense of lifting the minerals off the planet and shipping them to Earth. If there is any extraterrestrial mining, the extracting of minerals from near-Earth asteroids will probably be where the money is.
Olaf says that the margin was not really that slim and the. cut was made. Thank God for that and God Bless America.
BTW, Even if ❤️Danae had not made the cut, Olaf would have issued a pardon if not immediately, after the Inauguration and made it retroactive. God Bless America!
Interesting enough, it could be said Santa Claus may be a transgender male, that had been a witch. :P
Look up La Befana of Epiphany Eve, also Festa della Befana, Italy.
Seems on the night of January 5th a witch, Befana, delivers presents to good children and coal to bad ones. Only instead of reindeer and a sled, she flies on a broomstick. She does climb down chimneys to deliver the presents and coal. Hmmmmmm, interesting how the more modern religions absorbed the stories of the old ones. Of course, trying to male dominate, the woman had to become a man. Seems Christians may not be as against transgender as they act. Or perhaps it’s the truth of their fiction that frightens them the most.
I don’t think this is a thing for that holiday, but I am thinking I might put out a broomstick the evening of January 5th. Just in case Befana needs a relief broom. ;)
Beyond that enjoy the Santa story line fun for what it’s worth. I’m not that ate up on what fairy tale people want to believe, but making kids happy is priceless.
Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies prohibits any nation from claiming sovereignty of any of the celestial bodies. How do you get mineral rights?
I would think that could have made Santa’s list by a country mile, willing to explore new worlds and everything. She should have just shut up about the greedy part
For a realistic look at what it would take to colonize the Moon and Mars (the only 2 other places in the Solar System even marginally amenable to human life), read the fascinating book A City on Mars by Kelly and Zach Weinersmith, illustrated by the latter (the artist behind “Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal”, which blessedly comes out more often than just on Saturday Mornings).

Is this a comment on our former/future wuzizname?

Nowadays they tend to use the term “crewed mission” instead of “manned”, so Lucy’s voyage should count.

Also, I think you have to be alive when you get to Mars for it to count, Danae.

It’s a good thing they scrubbed the mission. If Lucy had gone into orbit around Mars, she would just be horsing around.

So, that’s why Elon Musk want to “occupy Mars”.

is anyone else getting an incessant popup for Conoco? I must have had to click it closed 10 times before I got thru this comic.
