However and whatever you may celebrate, best wishes for the start of another holiday season…be it Tofu or Turkey…Honoring Pilgrims or indigenous Folk…A quiet time at home, or worrying about missing connections while traveling cross-country to deal with beloved (or least-favored) relatives… Fancy Restaurant or Soup Kitchen as a guest or worker…Feverishly Decking the Halls, Cleaning out the Garage and Basement; Washing mountains of dishes or sprawling semi-comatose on an overstuffed couch with cats on your overstuffed belly…Take a deep breath, get centered and quietly mumble the traditional mantra, “Oh @#&$ !” — Saturnalia, Christmas, Chanukah and New Years celebrations are rapidly approaching.

Years back, at my parents’ for Thanksgiving. Their phone rings and it is my neighbor. ??? They stored cookies and stuff in the oven and forgot about them when they preheated the oven and the oven was toast. Could we use your oven. Not really, good people but I don’t want people flouncing around my house. Luckily I had a giant toaster oven that was so good, my company used them in the lab. So I went and gave that to them for the day.

My Thanksgiving tradition, for almost 40 years now, is to make a huge bowl of coleslaw and then forget that it is in the downstairs fridge until after dinner, when we start putting the leftovers away…….

Every #%@$ year lol! :-))

(Now ask about the time I dropped an 18 pound turkey on the floor, after taking it out of the oven. Thankfully, that did NOT become a tradition ;-)

What am I thankful for?

→ My wife – more than 87.523% of the time.

→ My kids – most days.

→ My friends – here online and in person.

→ Georgia – Happy Birthday, again.

→ My cats – except for the one who went onto my plate and tried to steal that piece of chicken. Yes, Hamilton. I’m looking at you.

→ The dog – except when I have to clean her paws after she comes in from the rain.

→ That doomsayer from down under.

→ Gin. That clear, pure nectar from the Gods. Bring your friend Vermouth, and we’ll continue our multi-decade-long experiment to create the perfect compound.

→ Giblet, Belle, Holmes & Watson. I look forward to each day I can associate with you on the computer screen, and we can explore your adventures.

Shout out for the old RevereWare saucepan on the Woman’s stovetop. Tradition!

A very happy birthday Georgia! I look forward to BCN first thing every morning (often before I get up :P) Wishing you a wonderful year of wonderful discoveries, friends, love, family (including our own Ord family)! All the best to you.

This strip is now as much a holiday tradition as Charlie Brown’s Christmas.

And the best people are born on the 28th, it’s also my beloved’s b-day.

And the favorite meal happens to be Thanksgiving turkey!

Thank you for the reminder Georgia! Because of this, I just checked my oven before I start it up, and sure enough, the bird wouldn’t have fit with the racks as they were.

Happy Thanksgravy to everyone, we are snowed in and well supplied. Our tiny apartment sized oven is crammed with a 10# bird, Poodle and Roy are waiting for their “Nurkey” albeit impatiently. I have a day of cooking for just the 4 of us and a lot of dishes to wash after. Hope you have it a bit easier than myself today and that all your flights are on time! Stay safe!

And then the woman will wonder when the boy or girl ever heard such language when one of the repeats what the woman traditionally says.

It isn’t Thanksgiving until I watch the WKRP turkey drop and come here to wish everyone a happy “oh @#*1” day!! I am so grateful to be able to come here every morning and visit with old friends – BCN and the Orb – and remind myself that we truly are all connected to each other, one way or another :)

My microwave oven has no racks, so my Thanksgiving lasagna will cause me no such problems!

Who opens up the well-preheated oven,

Sees that she’s forgotten

the top rack should be out

a belated happy birthday Georgia. Happy thanksgiving to all those celebrating today also. I go to be with family for dinner later to celebrate even though I am Canadian . It is nice to celebrate two holidays! I am thankful for BCN and you Georgia. Everyone is so nice here. It feels like family and I appreciate all of you. I would say “oh@#*1” to all but I thought the woman was swearing because of the hot rack! Did not want to do that here! Enjoy the day everyone…

The sink, unless it’s one of those stainless ones with tiny compartments will do fine. If you have them, cooling racks and/or trivets. Oh, if there’s room, the stovetop. Not that I’ve ever had to take a rack out of a hot oven before. : )

I use the oven for storage of pizza pans, cast iron cookware and the crock pot. I never turn on any oven without checking inside.

OT: More Fedexery.

Thankfully I only do the turkey breast, so I don’t have to worry about removing any racks.

Georgia, dear lady (and you are a lady—I’m picky about using that term), I’m sorry I missed your birthday. I was very busy on Thanksgiving Day, and have been since, until this afternoon.

I hope you had a completely wonderful Thanksbirthgiving Day. You’re the best. And I’m very, very grateful for BCN. Thank you SO much!
