HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our beloved Georgia! Thank you for creating and sharing your wonderful stories with us and for inspiring such a wonderful community as The Orb. we are forever in your debt. may the years to come bring you much joy, peace, love, prosperity and good health.
Happy birthday, Georgia, and happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! We are forever grateful to you for giving us the BCN world to visit and love. Wishing you many more years of life and joy. ❤️
Happy 43rd Orbit Around the Sun, Georgia! ღƪ(ˆ◡ˆ)ʃ♡ƪ(ˆ◡ˆ)ʃ♪ I hope you had a much better 43rd birthday than I did just recovering from Covid. You deserve it, girl! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ ❤ Georgia ❤ }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Sure hope your clowder gathered round you and gave you the head boops, purrs, and snuggles you deserve! :D
And Happy Weird-American-Holiday-That-The-Rest-Of-Us-Don’t-Understand-But-Is-A-Boon-To-Married-Couples-Because-They-Can-Have-One-Set-Of-In laws-For-This-One-And-The-Other-Set-For-Christmas.
Just want to say that I’m thankful for this warm, inviting place here in the BCN comment section. The nicest place on the web. You are all like old friends to me, even the newbies! Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
However and whatever you may celebrate, best wishes for the start of another holiday season…be it Tofu or Turkey…Honoring Pilgrims or indigenous Folk…A quiet time at home, or worrying about missing connections while traveling cross-country to deal with beloved (or least-favored) relatives… Fancy Restaurant or Soup Kitchen as a guest or worker…Feverishly Decking the Halls, Cleaning out the Garage and Basement; Washing mountains of dishes or sprawling semi-comatose on an overstuffed couch with cats on your overstuffed belly…Take a deep breath, get centered and quietly mumble the traditional mantra, “Oh @#&$ !” — Saturnalia, Christmas, Chanukah and New Years celebrations are rapidly approaching.
TRADI-TION!!!! tradition! If you haven’t watched Fiddler on the Roof, I would strongly suggest it. It’s an amazing musical about the life of 1800s Russian Jews.
Years back, at my parents’ for Thanksgiving. Their phone rings and it is my neighbor. ??? They stored cookies and stuff in the oven and forgot about them when they preheated the oven and the oven was toast. Could we use your oven. Not really, good people but I don’t want people flouncing around my house. Luckily I had a giant toaster oven that was so good, my company used them in the lab. So I went and gave that to them for the day.
My Thanksgiving tradition, for almost 40 years now, is to make a huge bowl of coleslaw and then forget that it is in the downstairs fridge until after dinner, when we start putting the leftovers away…….
Every #%@$ year lol! :-))
(Now ask about the time I dropped an 18 pound turkey on the floor, after taking it out of the oven. Thankfully, that did NOT become a tradition ;-)
→ My cats – except for the one who went onto my plate and tried to steal that piece of chicken. Yes, Hamilton. I’m looking at you.
→ The dog – except when I have to clean her paws after she comes in from the rain.
→ That doomsayer from down under.
→ Gin. That clear, pure nectar from the Gods. Bring your friend Vermouth, and we’ll continue our multi-decade-long experiment to create the perfect compound.
→ Giblet, Belle, Holmes & Watson. I look forward to each day I can associate with you on the computer screen, and we can explore your adventures.
A very happy birthday Georgia! I look forward to BCN first thing every morning (often before I get up :P) Wishing you a wonderful year of wonderful discoveries, friends, love, family (including our own Ord family)! All the best to you.
Today is far from a traditional Thanksgiving for me, but it’a always great to see this strip and its lovely world. Happy day to all, whatever you call it.
And an “oh @#*1” to everyone!!! Thank you so much for all of your kindness and love for this comic, this year and every year, but especially this year with the recent loss of my Dad. I’m so grateful for all of you and to write this comic and tell my stories and have folks somehow love them! And thank you for the birthday wishes!!
Thank you for the reminder Georgia! Because of this, I just checked my oven before I start it up, and sure enough, the bird wouldn’t have fit with the racks as they were.
Happy Thanksgravy to everyone, we are snowed in and well supplied. Our tiny apartment sized oven is crammed with a 10# bird, Poodle and Roy are waiting for their “Nurkey” albeit impatiently. I have a day of cooking for just the 4 of us and a lot of dishes to wash after. Hope you have it a bit easier than myself today and that all your flights are on time! Stay safe!
It isn’t Thanksgiving until I watch the WKRP turkey drop and come here to wish everyone a happy “oh @#*1” day!! I am so grateful to be able to come here every morning and visit with old friends – BCN and the Orb – and remind myself that we truly are all connected to each other, one way or another :)
a belated happy birthday Georgia. Happy thanksgiving to all those celebrating today also. I go to be with family for dinner later to celebrate even though I am Canadian . It is nice to celebrate two holidays! I am thankful for BCN and you Georgia. Everyone is so nice here. It feels like family and I appreciate all of you. I would say “oh@#*1” to all but I thought the woman was swearing because of the hot rack! Did not want to do that here! Enjoy the day everyone…
Thank you, Georgia for Breaking Cat News. And a note to everyone who needs it -when you pull that rack out of the oven, just put it back in the proper place in the oven. I have had to do that.
I am typing this from the front room of my home in Indiana. I will never cease to be thankful and grateful to .·:·.✧✦ Kim Metzger ✦✧.·:·. for sending me the first Breaking Cat News book back in 2016; for ✧༝┉˚*❋*.·:·.✧❤❤❤ Georgia Dunn’s ❤❤❤✧.·:·.* ❋*˚┉༝✧ unique point of view, gorgeous art, warm humor and fascinatingly detailed worldbuilding, which helped to keep me sane through, well, everything…; and my fellow BCN fans who evolved into ✧・゚: ✧・゚: The Mega-Orb :・゚✧*:・゚✧ and its support and loving kindness; WHICH GOT ME HOME.
The sink, unless it’s one of those stainless ones with tiny compartments will do fine. If you have them, cooling racks and/or trivets. Oh, if there’s room, the stovetop. Not that I’ve ever had to take a rack out of a hot oven before. : )
Georgia, dear lady (and you are a lady—I’m picky about using that term), I’m sorry I missed your birthday. I was very busy on Thanksgiving Day, and have been since, until this afternoon.
I hope you had a completely wonderful Thanksbirthgiving Day. You’re the best. And I’m very, very grateful for BCN. Thank you SO much!

And the best people are born on the 28th, it’s also my beloved’s b-day.
And the favorite meal happens to be Thanksgiving turkey!
So Happy Everything Day!
