I use the word occasionally, never thought it was unusual. I’m not familiar w/ that spelling. To me it means a small concrete or masonry slab, as opposed to a porch, which would be wooden.
I always thought it was “stoop.” Derived from the Dutch word “stoep.” In some places, used interchangeably with “porch,” although stoop generally means stairs leading up to an entry door with a small or no platform at the top. Whereas a porch may (but not necessarily) have a platform that extends part way or completely across that side of the house.

Funny, I never realized this was the back door. I always assumed it was the front.
