5 to 10? Or Life?

It’s about time she has an epiphany…

“Good’ is such a vague term.

Planning ahead isn’t her best thing.

i didn’t have a carefree childhood. it culminated in being on a family farm, the last legal bastion of child slavery in america. even with vietnam raging, i enlisted just to get away.

ahhh .. bl*ody adults – always getting in the way of a good time!

The only truly carefree time that I had as a child was the summer of ‘64. I was 10 years old, and I stayed with my uncle in the beachside town of Beverly Shores, Indiana. My uncle was either drunk or sleeping, so I had the whole summer with no adult supervision whatsoever. Sometimes he would disappear for days at a time. It’s a good thing he kept cereal in his house.

What will she be doing when her childhood days are gone?

About 10-to-20 with time off for good behavior but no chance of parole.

I tell my grandkids to enjoy their childhood, stop wishing they were grown up.

It is possible to be in the moment and also plan for the future. Most kids, however, aren’t great at planning too far ahead — especially elementary school aged kids like Danae — so I wouldn’t worry about her too much.

Danae is far from carefree, though most of it is her own fault. Kate is doing childhood right. (Then, too, so is Cap’n Eddie…..)

Decades older than she is, and still gazing at the view with no idea about the future.

Cheer up, Danae. Things are going to get better and better starting January 20. Actually, they’ve started already. God Bless America!

there is a park on the coast of New York where I played a lot as a child, now, whenever I am in the area, I’ll go to that park, sit on a bench and look out at the water and it’s as magical now as it was when I was 10

Indeed. Let kids be kids. Especially ones you don’t want to mess with.

Danae is nowhere close to being a carefree child.

Sometimes, looking out over the Pacific, with nothing out there between me and Hawaii, just makes you think.

Mostly that it’s time to go to Hawaii.

Can understand Danea’s ‘death atare.’ She so rarely just sits and contemplates what is around her . . . without making a plan to destroy it.

Danae is more into plotting, than planning.

Childhood should be the best time of your life, don’t mess it up

Never confuse planning & strategy with control. Control is an illusion when the whole planet has free will ! ;-)

Never saw Danae arc start in the middle of the week before…… and horses cannot sit in that position!!

I’m with Danae on this. When I was a kid, all my friends and classmates couldn’t wait to grow up, and I kept thinking “They’re crazy, we have it made right now.”

One of the BIG advantages of being a comic book character – no pressure toward adolescence. :)

That type of planning never works- – -

I still have friends from that time of my life, in fact I will see a bunch of them Saturday, we are all sons and daughters of fighter pilots and we do this at least once a year.

Looking at scenery can be a form of meditation if you do it right.

I’ve quit planning ahead for most things. Murphy always seems to show up and change things.

Still working on my grand plan. Retiring solved a lot of problems, but this growing old $#@ is bringing me down.
