Yep. We marched to the store one winter. Thermals, parkas, boots, heavy gloves and poles. On return there was a river in front of the house. Somebody decided to drive, lost it and knocked off a hydrant.
I just figured out why some people make a comment to a cartoon when that comment has already showed up well above theirs in the comment string. They’re probably pluggers, and realize that they have to make their comment right away or they’ll forget it. Then they can go back and maybe read the comments that have been added already.

A Plugger has enough sense to wear gloves. It’s the teens that pull their sleeves down over their hands when they get cold. Pluggers also wear a jacket or coat when the temperatures drop – teens not so much
Are most Pluggers senile or just dumb? Many of these cartoons are a bit insulting. I’m 75, so I should qualify as a Plugger, but I do have enough sense to wear gloves when it’s cold.
“Pluggers don’t wear gloves outside in Minnesota in December” is I think the point where we start doing wellness checks on the pluggers in our lives. Don’t wait until they end up in the hospital getting their fingers amputated!
The idea of pulling your sleeves down to keep your hands warm is centuries old. The big cuffs on military greatcoats were there for that very reason. It is way beyond difficult to fire a musket with gloves on your hands and by the time you get your gloves off, you might be shot dead already.

I like gloves for their warmth, but I can’t really do anything with them on. On off on off; you get the picture…

I wish I could still do that. I wear gloves or mittens and usually need to put hand warmers in them or my hands get so cold they ache

He needs a hat. I suggest one of those flannel winter hats.
